Kelly, the Sand Artist

I am a sand artist who creates impactful sand art performances addressing various topics. I have actively engaged with community centers, including government agencies, schools, libraries, senior centers, and youth centers, providing engaging and emotionally impactful experiences to audiences.

Sand art is a unique form of art that uses sand to create diverse stories. Through my performances, I aim to raise awareness on social issues such as anti-bullying, drug prevention, school violence, smoking cessation, multiculturalism, and self-esteem. Additionally, I deliver opening performances tailored to the themes of various events, offering audiences new experiences and emotions.

While I have gained significant experience through my activities in Korea, I am now eager to contribute to Canada's cultural industry. My decision to immigrate to Canada stems from my desire to continue my sand art activities here, inspiring and bringing hope to people, just as I have done in Korea.

Migguell Anggelo

TD Incubator Fellow

The world is complex – as is the city of Calgary – and the art that reflects it should be too. The TD Incubator program is designed to support this idea and the artists who move between and blend artistic forms. Each season of the TD Incubator program is designed and facilitated by Incubator Fellows. These Fellows guide the direction of Incubator offerings, curate exhibitions and performances, and also receive direct mentorship and support in their career development. 

The Fellow for the 2024-25 season is Migguel Anggelo. Migguel is a Venezuelan-born, Miami and Brooklyn-based performing artist whose work blends various art forms like theater, music, and visual arts. Drawing inspiration from his experiences as a Latino immigrant and queer man,he explores themes of identity, belonging, and cultural heritage.

Known for his theatrical performances, Anggelo has presented works like "LatinXoxo" and "English with an Accent" at prestigious venues. His performances often combine elements of comedy, drama, and music, drawing influences from artists like David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and Marcel Marceau.

Through dreamlike visuals and spirited imagination, they hope to ignite the wonder that lives within us all.
