Artist Biography
Noah Milo is a fashion designer, filmmaker, and painter based in Calgary, Alberta. Born in 2001, into a Muslim family, he grew up in between Saskatoon and Cairo. Milo began his artistic practice at the age of 17 after running away from home. He made a start working and living out of a 300 sq. ft. studio in Edmonton. In the following years, he traveled between studios in industrial and urban areas of Edmonton. There, he continuously refined his voice and engaged with the societal issues that resonated deeply with his personal journey. During that time, he created the series The City is a Problem. Milo examines the complexities of his ancestry and the lasting effects of colonization as an immigrant and settler. Through oil paint and mixed media, he seeks to illuminate narratives of past and present Canada, inviting viewers to reflect on the intersections of identity and history.
