Artist Statement for Etuaptmumk
My art piece is a watercolor painting representing *Two-Eyed Seeing*—the coexistence of the modern and traditional worlds. Through the contrast of tipis and a large city, I highlight their separation and the deeper need for unity. By embracing both Indigenous and Western knowledge, we can learn to coexist peacefully, setting aside differences and fostering acceptance. Art has always been my way of expressing ideas and bringing imagination to life. Inspired by nature, architecture, and storytelling, I use painting and drawing to explore colors, textures, and emotions. Being part of IndigeSTEAM has allowed me to grow as an artist and connect with Indigenous perspectives in a meaningful way. My goal is to continue evolving my style, using art to share ideas and inspire a future understanding and harmony.
