Calgary Civic Symphony’s 50th Anniversary Season starts with a full circle, welcoming home world-renowned cellist Luka Coetzee. Once one of our “Rising Stars” as a young 12 year old prodigy in 2014, Luka returns as an international star to perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Paired with Brahms’ monumental Symphony No. 1 and the world-premiere of a work by Alberta composer, John Estacio, commissioned in honour of The Civic’s 50th anniversary, this performance will set a brilliant tone for a landmark season.
