Shiyao Fu

ARTIST STATEMENT:
"Place" is a major element in my research and practice. My experience of being back and forth between two cities in early childhood made me unable to identify myself with either place. With these experiences of displacement, I am captivated by what connects people together with each other and with the places that they live in. In my recent sound installation, I explored individual attachments to different places , communication, and how we engage with other cultures.
