Pirates might be reduced to a Halloween costume for some, but they are a year-round fascination for archaeologist and National Geographic Explorer, Lisa Briggs. Best known for her work excavating shipwrecks and conducting scientific analysis on artifacts recovered from some of the world's most important underwater archaeological sites, Lisa shares what life was like during the Golden Age of Piracy.
Join Werklund Centre as we go on assignment with her to the Mediterranean Sea and explore how pirating shaped ancient cities. We will also meet some of the first known pirates, explore the “pirate code,” and dive deep into a sunken wreck to learn about the infamous renegade, Blackbeard and his flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge.
