Artist Biography

Laila Blue is a filmmaker, actor, and multidisciplinary artist based in Alberta. She began acting as a child and trained on and off at the Company of Rogues. Her debut short film, FLOW, is a surreal, mixed-media exploration of beauty culture told through stop-motion, live-action, and animation. FLOW is on the festival circuit, screening at the Toronto Indie Horror Festival and YIKES!, nominated for Best Animation (Canada) at Couch Film Festival, and screens at the Werklund Centre's Micro Cinema starting January 15.

She has worked as an assistant to the director on the CBC feature Dusk and Dawn and acted in Cancer Szn (Blood in the Snow), Death in Apartment 603: What Happened to Ellen Greenberg? (ABC/Hulu Season 1 EP1), and The Ropes (Fibre1, Season 1 EP4).

Her work explores identity, trauma, and societal pressure through a surreal, satirical lens. She is in development on her debut feature with executive producer Edmon Rotera (Skinamarink).
