Jennifer Leblanc

Artist Statement

Jennifer loves a due date, a structure, and a theme to work within. She’ll then go take a look around the room that her craft stuff is in and search for the perfect little thing she’s stashed away - brightly coloured cardboard, an old postcard, those foam things Asian pears come in - and figure out how to craft a little world to tell a story. Sometimes the story is collaborative and many ideas flow in & out of the process of making, sometimes Jennifer holes up and figures it out herself, and a couple times she’s been dreaming up the project for awhile and relishes the perfect excuse to bring it to life. She also likes to

storytell by physicalizing a character and figuring out what is important to them, and then creating the environment they live in. What you see here is a collection of various characters and environments and source material Jennifer has brought to life.
