Artist Statement
This is a small collection of my ongoing exploration of movement, memory and transformation through a variety of time-based media. Rooted in traditions of puppetry and hand-drawn animation, my practice brings drawings, transparencies, shadows, and everyday objects into motion.
At the heart of the exhibition is a video loop featuring short films and performance excerpts, all animations are painfully and obsessively drawn frame by frame.
The installation is completed with continuous liquid light projections, recalling my live performance practice where animation, puppetry, and analog visuals converge.

Artist Biography
evvie lightpirate (Evelyn Delgado) is an interdisciplinary artist originally from Costa Rica, now based in Calgary, AB. She works mainly in time-based media including hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation, shadow puppetry, and projections. Her practice blends dance, puppetry, and rotoscoping to create punk goth vignettes that echo a storybook aesthetic, where objects, drawings, and shadows shift into animated life.
Her performances are embodied rituals of light, texture, and rhythm. Drawing inspiration from both analog traditions and emerging digital tools, hers work explores childhood, memory, identity, and transformation, highlighting the ways popular culture shapes her identity.
She holds a degree in Art Education from Concordia University and a Master’s in Adult Learning, allowing her to bridge theory and performance in both her creative and pedagogical approaches. She continues to expand her practice through collaboration, experimentation, and live performance, exploring the resonance of visual storytelling and the uncanny vitality of animated objects.
