Artist Biography

Connor Cook is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist currently residing in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, Canada. His pieces have been showcased internationally through concerts or live performances across Canada, in Mexico, the United States, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.

Connor’s work often stems from creative sound art practices – which in turn inform performance, and composition for stage, video, and interactive media. His practice is further fuelled by an interest in acoustic-ecology-informed recording and sustainable sound practices, and sustainable urban livelihood (including the sound ecology of the urban individual). Finally, community reciprocity drives his approach – Connor has found family across Canada and beyond and considers it a gift to cultivate creative projects that give back to the communities that helped support and challenge him over the years, especially in Montreal, Calgary, Fredericton, and Sweden. He is a member of Trajectories Collective, an international ambient/experimental composition collective – their latest original piece, Ecomorphia, is installed at Arts Commons in Calgary, Alberta. Connor currently works for the Next Generation Cities Institute at Concordia University in Montreal, where he is developing a podcast about the research conducted at the institute, as well as designing sound for their City Player and Tools for Cities projects, which leverage video game design to put research in the hands of city planners and community stakeholders interested in designing more sustainable urban environments.
