Artist Biography
Azure Mayhew is a visual artist based in Treaty 7 territory (Calgary, Alberta). She works primarily with oil paints to create saturated surreal paintings as well as occasionally exploring with silkscreen and lino relief. She started her formal arts education in Langara College before transferring and completing her Bachelors of Arts and Design in 2024 at the University of Alberta. In 2019, Mayhew participated in her first exhibition, exhibiting her painting “Lamps and Frames” at the Buffalo Lounge in Langara College. In 2023, Mayhew applied to the Edmonton Youth Anthology and had three works, “Take a Dip”, “Ensnared I” and “Do You Like Me Now?” featured in their second anthology volume “Fragments of Familiar Narratives”.
