Artist Biography

Ashley Vergara was born to a Mexican father and Korean mother and raised in a traditional Korean Household. Early on, she was exposed to a tapestry of influences from the cinematic soundtracks of Studio Ghibli and 80s pop, to the rich traditions of Eastern culture. These elements shaped her artistry to celebrate originality and storytelling. Today, her lyrics explore themes of belonging, courage and connection giving voice to disenfranchised communities including LGBTQIA+ individuals, visible minorities, and those fighting the stigma of mental illness. Through her music she strives to offer a welcoming platform for those who challenge the status quo and seek a relatable voice in a complex world. In July 2024, Vergara was honored to be recognized as a new favourite artist by Exclaim! Magazine, a milestone that reflects the growing momentum of her artistic journey. Performing at Sound Off Summit in Calgary further marked her return to live music, reinvigorating her drive to build a career that reflects both her artistic ambition and the values of community and connection. Alongside performing, Vergara has been experimenting with visual storytelling on platforms like TikTok, using Ableton launchpad performances and narrative driven posts to engage her audience and share her creative process.
