Sumit Munjal

Artist Biography

Sumit Munjal is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and cultural worker based in Calgary (Treaty 7 territory). Their practice explores queerness, South Asian diasporic identity, material culture, and systems of care through textiles, objects, installation, and storytelling. Rooted in lived experience and community engagement, their work often examines how intimacy, memory, and belonging are shaped through everyday materials, particularly clothing and domestic objects. Sumit’s practice sits at the intersection of art, social practice, and sustainability, foregrounding responsibility, reciprocity, and relational ways of being.
