Prairie Sparks: Local Lights

Written by Werklund Centre | Jan 19, 2026 4:31:52 PM

Prairie Sparks: Local Lights is a dynamic showcase celebrating the creativity, diversity, and talent of Calgary’s vibrant arts community as part of Chinook Blast. Featuring a mix of music and spoken word, this special evening brings together emerging and established voices from Werklund Centre's TD Incubator program who are shaping the city’s cultural landscape.

The evening will be hosted by Adetola "aloT of Poetry" Adedipe, who will guide audiences through a night of connection, celebration, and discovery. Join us for performances by local artists Kue Varo and The Only Hopes, alongside the genre-blending sounds of SHYFRiEND. Audiences will also experience powerful spoken word segments by Calgary's former poet laureate Wakefield Brewster, adding depth and storytelling to an evening that reflects the spirit and stories of our city.

Whether you’re a longtime supporter of local arts or discovering these artists for the first time, Prairie Sparks: Local Lights is an unforgettable celebration of homegrown creativity at the heart of Chinook Blast.
