Oodua Concert

Written by Werklund Centre | Apr 1, 2026 9:46:35 PM

The Oodua Concert is a premier cultural showcase dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich heritage of the Yoruba people.

"Oodua" (or Oduduwa) represents the progenitor of the Yoruba race and the symbol of our collective identity. This festival serves as a global stage to connect the diaspora with the sacred traditions of Ile-Ife—the cradle of civilization—through music, art, and direct engagement with the custodians of our culture.

Special Guest:

Royal Guest of Honor: His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II)
The Ooni of Ife

His Imperial Majesty is the 51st Ooni of Ife, the traditional ruler of the ancient kingdom of Ile-Ife and the spiritual leader of the Yoruba people worldwide. Since his ascension to the throne in 2015, the Ooni has been a global ambassador for peace, unity, and youth empowerment. An astute entrepreneur and philanthropist, his reign is defined by "Cultural Diplomacy," reconnecting the African diaspora with their ancestral roots. His presence at the Oodua Global Festival marks a historic moment for the community in Calgary.

Headlining Artist:

Adekunle Gold (AG Baby)
Highlife & Afrobeats Icon

Adekunle Gold is a multi-award-winning Nigerian singer, songwriter, and graphic designer. Known for his unique "Urban Highlife" sound, he rose to fame with the hit "Sade" and has since evolved into a global powerhouse with chart-topping albums like Gold, Catch Me If You Can, and his 2025 release, Fuji. A prince of the Lagos royal family himself, Adekunle Gold blends traditional Yoruba rhythms with modern pop, making him the perfect voice to celebrate the spirit of Oodua.
