A physical theatrical journey into darkness and discovery.
Step into a magical world where light is something to be caught, protected, and understood.
The Light of the Deep is a visually stunning new work of physical theatre created and performed by acclaimed artist Landon Krentz. Through projection, animation, puppetry, and the poetic movement of Visual Vernacular (VV), the story follows a solitary fisherman—an older man in rainboots—who fishes not for food, but for light.
What begins as a joyful chase after a single firefly soon becomes a haunting journey, as a mysterious figure emerges. This presence, a symbol of societal consumption and fear, follows the fisherman’s every move as he collects and protects light in all its fragile forms.
This accessible performance fuses physical theatre, visual storytelling, and experimental theatre to deliver a compelling, wordless narrative that resonates across communities.
